Physical assessment

As part of your comprehensive appointment, our clinicians will use a range of clinical devices, measurements and assessment criteria to better understand your lymphoedema and lymphatic status. This helps us to give you insight into your condition and helps to form your report and treatment plan.

Second Imaging phase

When you return for your phase 2 imaging, our clinicians will observe where the dye has reached in this time. During this session your lymphatics, areas of oedema, lymph nodes and anything else of note will be 'mapped' using a skin marker pen and recorded to create your bespoke plan.

Results and discussion

As your appointment draws to a close, our clinicians will discuss with you the conclusions of the imaging procedure, and importantly, what this means for your treatment, outcomes and future care. You are welcome to ask any questions you may have.

Telephone consultation

As your appointment date gets closer, you will have a telephone consultation with one of our experienced clinicians. This will provide you with plenty of opportunity to ask any further questions you may have. Our clinician will confirm your medical history and ask more detailed, relevant questions to start building all the information we need.

Initial ICG Imaging

We begin your imaging with a tiny injection of fluorescent dye (usually diluted Indocyanine Green) and observe the uptake of this and movement of the dye for around 30 minutes.

Doctor

Initial consultation

We begin your appointment on the day with an initial consultation the clinician will review your medical history, consent for the procedure and answer any questions you may have.

Wait period

As the lymphatic system takes a while to move the dye (ICG), it gives you some time to grab a coffee, have a little walk or simply relax in our comfortable waiting area. Your clinician will let you know what time to return for your phase 2 imaging.

Possible second wait period and third imaging phase

A second waiting period, and third imaging phase, may be necessary for some patients depending on the individual response to the ICG. It doesn't move as quickly or as far in some due to the nature of their lymphatics. Our clinicians will discuss this with you, they may administer further injections or a longer wait phase. This all helps to ensure that nothing is missed and that your session provides you with as much information as possible.

Post Appointment

A member of the team may be in touch with you around a month after you receive your report to see how you are getting on and how you found your experience with LymphVision. We are always eager to support you with any requests from your GP if these have not been processed in this time, and to provide any extra help in following the recommendations if you feel you need some additional guidance. Sometimes it can take a while to process the information you have been given at your appointment and our team are happy to answer any questions you may have had since the procedure. We also appreciate hearing your feedback on your overall experience with LymphVision, and how effective you are finding the interventions recommended by our clinical team.
